FOUNDATION AND GOVERNMENT SUPPORT

When the Straz Center was built in the early 1980s, funding for the construction came from both the public and private sector, creating a public/private partnership that served as the model for the Straz Center's fund-raising efforts. Today, that unique partnership still exists.

Local and state government agencies provide annual operating support that helps the Straz Center fulfill its mission to serve the community. From time to time, these agencies also provide funding for capital improvements necessary to maintain our world-class facility.

Grants from local and national foundations provide funding for artistic programming and arts education. The commissioning of new works, grand opera productions, the classical ballet training program and education outreach activities are just a few of the Straz Center's annual projects that are made possible in part by foundation gifts.

Funding opportunities are available for a variety of the Straz Center programs. For more information about foundation and government support, please e-mail Donna McBride, Director of Foundation & Public Grants, or call 813.222.1034.
